2004
The first Nintendo DS was released on November 21st in 2004 in North America and was released December 2nd 2004 in Japan. Unlike Nintendo's previous releases the Nintendo DS was released in North America before Japan as a marketing strategy to have it out in time for Black Friday. The DS was the second highest console of all time with over 154 million of them sold worldwide. The design of the console made it extremly innovative at the time with it's dual screen, the built in microphone for interactive play and the Download Play feature. The Download Play feature allowed players to share one Game Card for multiplayer gaemplay and even send and recieve demos for games. It helped redefine what handheld gaming could be,and left a lasting mark on an entire generation.

Nintendo made official carrying cases for the DS to keep your system safe from scratches and drops. Some were designed to have extra pockets to hold your game cards, stylus, and other accessories, making it easy to carry everything together.
The stylus pen was essential for touchscreen games, and Nintendo sold extra ones in case you lost or broke the original. They were small, easy to use, and some were designed to be more comfortable for longer gaming sessions.
For the DSi, Nintendo offered memory expansion cards that let you download more content from the DSi Shop. They gave you extra storage for games, demos, and saved data, so you didn't have to worry about running out of space.
Nintendo released official headsets for the DS, which made it easier to have better sound and a smoother chatting experience with friends during online games. It gave the user clearer audio without disturbing anyone, making them a great accessory for gaming sessions.
Super Mario 64 is a portable version of the N64 game with the same title. It's pretty much the same as the original but it adds some new characters, levels and platform to keep it a bit different from its predecessor.
Mario Kart is a racing game where you play as the charcaters in the Mario universe. This game has a lot of tracks you can to choose to race one, with "Rainbow Road" being an all time classic.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a farming game where you are the mayor of a town owned by a tanuki named Tom Nook. You're able to build, fish, and hang with the animal villagers in your town. It's a very simple cozy game with no hard goals so you can take all your time playing it.
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are the remakes of the 1999 Game Boy Color versions. You play as a pokemon trainer trying to become the best trainer in the Johto and Kanto regions.
Nintendogs is a virtual pet game where you raise and train puppies you can put them into competitions to earn money so you're able to buy nesccesties for your puppy and adopt more of them.
Cooking Mama is a cooking game where you are able to make recipes. The controls are very simple which makes it a fun and relaxing game.
Matio & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is an RPG where you explore Bowser's insides to save Mario and Luigi. The humor and unique battle system make it one of the better RPGs on the DS.
In Tomagachi Life is a life simuilator game where you are able to make mii characters of people you either know in real life, game characters or even celeberties. You get to take care of these miis by playing games with them, feeding them and even putting them in relationships with other mii characters you've made.
